In terms of carbon emissions refurbishment of existing properties with retro-fitted insulation is unquestionably massively better than newbuild.
Yet newbuild is VAT exempt – and H.M. Government charge full VAT on refurbishment works.
Quite how this tallies with the Government’s stated ‘pledges’ to slash UK carbon emissions is something of a mystery!
